I think just about everybody has taken a shot at this, and I'll bet that there are several melodies extant. I learned one from a fellow named Dick Adams back in the late Fifties. Dick had written it himself, and of all the tunes I've heard, it's still my favorite. But it's amazing how similar they all are.
