NBC has inked a major talent deal, landing Jill Hennessy (``Law & Order'') for the lead in a female coroner pilot. She will play Jordan Cavanaugh, an offbeat coroner who refuses to play by the rules. Hennessy played assistant D.A. Claire Kincaid on ``Law & Order'' from 1993 to 1996. The new series will start filming in Los Angeles in April.

Assuming the writers don't go on strike.
