That's the modern tune for the modern song. There's another song "The mucking of Geordie's byre" in Scots Musical Museum, #96, said to have been by James Tyler. It's tune, however, is from earlier days, and any 'original' song, if there was one, is lost. See the Scots tunes index on my website for other copies of the old tune.
