Members who post anonymously tend to do it because they are unwilling to take responsibility for their statements. If I'm unwilling to accept peoples' reactions to my statements as bbc, I would do better not to post at all.In more than one sense, a consistent name for a person allows us to discriminate--that is, to tell one person from another. As we get to know each other on the Forum, that can be used as a time-saving device. I have learned that there are some members whose comments I value & some that I usually don't find informative or helpful. I read threads & postings based on that discrimination. And, yes, Wolfgang, it helps us keep track of the players.
I don't have any problem, nor do I think most of us do, w/ legitimate guests to the site or w/ members who don't use their actual names. I object to members hiding behind the guest designation because they are unwilling to take responsibility for their actions.
