Dunno who wrote "I Will Go", but I first heard it performed by Ronnie Browne of the Corries. It refers to the predicament experienced by many Highland soldiers after the Jacobite defeat at Culloden, when, after serving with the British army on promise of pardon, they returned to find their families evicted and their lands converted to sheep farming. "I will go, I will go,When the fighting is over To the land of McLeod That I left to be a soldier-- I will go, I will go."If you can't raise a copy of the lyrics, let me know and I'll supply the rest. [Usually performed using bodhran.] Boab
