Subject: What if you couldn't go any more?
There is an Irish Pub where I live that I play at on a regular basis. It has been there for twenty years. As of the end of June, it will not be there any longer. Some of you may say, ah, plenty of places to drink around here, just find another. Maybe that's true, but this place is different. It's a place where truely "everybody knows your name". It's a place that I could count on to stop by on a weekend and know that there would be music to listen to, people to talk and laugh with and a nice atmosphere to relax in. If I was to say everything about the owners that I would like to, most or all of you would stop reading just because of the length of the post. Suffice it to say that they are Class people that ran a Class Establishment. Benefits, Community Outreach stuff, and Goodwill were a constant at O'Friel's. Doing the right thing has always been the norm over there and without going into specifics, closing up shop is the right thing now. Running a business is a stressful thing and this past Saturday while I finished up what was probably my last weekend there, I noticed that the owners have never looked more contented and happy. So.......thrilled for them, sad for us...Many tears will be shed that last weekend in June, many of them mine. But there will always be the memories, twenty years worth, which is where the smiles come in.

Anybody else have that special place that if it weren't there anymore, you would be sad?
