My mother often remarked that one of the biggest things that killed vaudeville here in the USA was great herds of Shirley Temple wannabes tap dancing the audiences into a stupor. What kind of music do the rest of your singers do? If Over the Rainbow and Wind Under My Wings are typical, that's one thing. If that's not the usual style of choice (not that I'm against a bit of contrast/variety, but you're establishing the character of the club just now), perhaps there's another venue available somewhere else.
