Actually, as I understand it, that's pretty much what the Hugill shanty competition in France is like. As I had it explained to me, they have a complete crew with shantyman who haul away on various equipment (windlass, pumps, halyards what have you) and sing, and are judged at the end of it. Always gave me the image of the announcer... "Yes, the scores are up... and OH! The crowd is not pleased... the German judge obviously marked them down three tenths of a point for not leering at the young lady in shorts in the crowd..."
