Well, 'spaw, depends on the friend and how close you are, I would guess.If you're storing them for any length of time, the fridge is a must. Even then, you still run the risk of them going bad if you leave them too long (say more than a couple weeks - tops). Of course, you may get lucky and not have them turn, especially if using the hormone laced 'farm eggs' from the supermarket.
Leaving them out for more than an hour or so is bad. Once they hit room temperature, I think it only takes an hour to start building up dangerous levels of bacteria.
