Subject: RE: BS: Happy Birthday, Israel
This is how I see it...there is an Israeli state. There has to be a Palestinian state. I wish they had accepted Barak's offer but they didn't. There is just not enough land or water for both populations to grow through constant immigration or births. So there should be these two states headquartered there. There should also be satellite populations elsewhere. Like in the song.."wherever Scots are gathered..." There are some countries losing populations that could accept immigrants and set up areas they would be safe and free. There are two countries that have special obligations, that I see. One is Great Britain for its historical ties to the Palestinians, so I would say they, and the entire Commonwealth at the time, including Canada and Australia, and perhaps Northern Ireland, should be in charge of resettling many of the Palestinian refugees, as well as Arab countries. We must remember that the Palestinians had nothing (that I know of ) to do with the Holocaust, and are carrying a great burden that should be given to countries that were responsible, namely Germany and Austria and others. Perhaps they could take in refugees from other countries who wanted to settle in Israel but there isn't really room or water for. Perhaps they could cooperate with other countries, and help create settlements there. Somewhere there is both land and water. The rest of the world can provide education and supplies and technicians and health workers. It is in everyone's best interest to help with this as we all know where a war could lead and we are headed down that garden path.

Another idea I have had, and I have been involved in technical education..in one year we could train many many Palestinians to be mobile health workers, cement finishers, construction workers, mechanics etc. And the UN could send them where there are natural disasters etc...earthquake teams etc..or just where there is terrible poverty...I think any solutions have to look at relieving the population pressure, moving some of both populations, freezing new settlements, and providing more education and support to the Palestinians.. mg
