Incidentally, he makes little thingies to stick in the pub prop so that you can use it for fiddles or mandolins - which can clear up a lot of room on the table, and keeps the instruments nice and handy and safe, and out of the way of the beer mugs.

I've suggested he come up with one for bodhrans, but I don't think he has yet.

The cantilever version Joan from Wigan mentions is specially handy if you've got a hyper-heavy banjo.
