Thread Name: Lyr Req/Add: Bombers' Moon (Mike Harding)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bombers' Moon
From the programme 'Goodnight Sweetheart'. Time traveller Gary Sparrow has travelled back to the 1940's, wartime London, and fallen in love with the landlady of the local pub (incidentally, Manitas used to deliver papers to that very same pub!!), and she has dragooned him into doing firewatch (standing on a roof, watching for fires). She hears the noise of an aircraft, looks up at the full moon and says 'Bombers moon'. Gary, a product of the 1990's looks at her and says 'do they really? How can you tell from here?' referring to the practice of exposing buttocks in the windows of various vehicles. The whole thing rides on the double meaning of moon, a meaning which I believe originated on the other side of the Pond......
