Actually, I do this every night, now that summer is here. I am inundated w/earwigs and they are drawn to the light, yet it is so hot during the day the only way to cool the house is to open everything at dusk when the temp. finally drops. The only way to avoid the rivers of earwigs that pour thru the front door, kitchen window, etc. is to leave all the lights off. Candles don't seem to attract...and it is great light to sing by.
