This is a good time of the year for new babies to come into the world. My twin grandsons, Akira and Elijah, turn 3 years old, today.I am reminded of new life and youth when I look at the mountain these days. The aspen trees are just starting to leaf out and leave big swathes of that early yellowish-green of baby leaves. They make such a contrast of light and dark amongst the evergreens.
Last weekend, we went out of town a few miles to a gardening center to get some speical pansies I love. While on the way, we saw several colts, some so young they still had wobbly legs, so out of proportion to the rest of their fuzzy-haired bodies.
My "A&E" have outgrown their wobbly-legs stage and keep their parents plenty busy. When I call them and play the dulcimer over the phone, then stop, they tell their mom they want the "big music" again. So, of course, I oblige.
I've not seen them since they were 6 weeks old, when I was there for a month with them just after birth. But, they know who Gramma Kitkat is, by picture and by phone, and, somehow, when I see that new growth on the mountain, it reminds of my little darlings and they don't seem so far away.
Happy Birthday, Akira and Elijah!
Love,
GrammaKitkat
