Snopes is a clearing house for urban legends, and they've got an awful lot of them archived, as researched by folklorists Barbara and David Mikkelson.

The Straight Dope is a column by Cecil Adams, in which the record is set straight on a number of perplexing issues. They also have an active message board, where if anyone has any questions about obscure song lyrics, I send them right to Mudcat.
