This morning's paper gives a "fuller" story that implies that the young man simply went nuts. I tend to believe it, as a real Palace coup would have been handled a lot neater, and most certainly would have involved the Military. Since there's precident for that kind of thing, the explanations would have been a lot clearer right from the beginning.

Hi "Your's Aye Dave. I hear ya guy. You're right. I saw the various pictures of the Royal family, and being a bit of a smug North American, couldn't help but notice that some of them looked like Peter Sellers playing Indian characters. Sometimes it's easy to see foreign folk with their uniforms and "gingerbread" as "quaint", and sometimes we make silly jokes (Gawd knows I do). If it had happened in Toronto, I probably would have taken it more seriously...'but a life is a life, ain't it? Anyway, you quickly made me think of the terror those folks went through...no matter WHAT the eventual results of any enquiry might show. Guess I'll probably still make inappropriate jokes at times....but you made me think.
