When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again is a song that has intrigued me for quite a while...

The lyrics seem to be almost celebratory, but the music is in a minor key and sounds dirge-like to my ear.

It gives me the feeling that the writer was in some kind of denial. It always makes me feel very sad, like "Oh, sure! He's coming home alright --in a coffin!"
