Subject: Favourite pre-WWII recording stars
In a recent thread, I had cause to remember the folk fiddler Elsie Avril, much recorded in the late '20s and the '30s. There's very little on the net about her. Here's a 78 for sale and here's a pic of her playing for a dance (note Maud Karpeles dancing). Finally, here's details of a cd with a sample.

I'm also a great fan of George Tremayne, melodeonist for the Boosbeck Longsword team, but there's even less about him on the net (am I the only person in the world with his 78 of "Lass Of Dallogill" and "The Oyster Girl"?

Obviously there are people like Woody Guthrie who are well known, but who are your less well known (now) stars?
