The problem with Star Wars defense systems and all their permutations:-- how can we be so sure that there is not a hydrogen bomb already stashed in every major city (and a few minor ones) in the world, just ready for whoever to poke a button on his control panel? If I were a maniac with the means (and I'm afraid there are some), that's the way I would do it.Of course defense spending provides jobs. But if we need to find things to do, I can think of a few other things that could use a little attention. . . .
