As I recal,it was in the year of 1942, I was decking on the tug Maine.Captain Ed and I were in the galley having coffe when Captain Dorsey , one of the docking pilots,stuck his head in and said ; I will go up to the observatory and see if I can see if she is on her way in. I wonder if this was one of the last times that the tower was used for the purpose for which it was built.
