You have to remember, Matt, he lived in a very different time. If you were to hunt around for men at that time who considered women as their equals, it would have been a fruitless search, I'm afraid. Therefore, to judge him simply on that basis is hardly apt, I think.Non-whites were considered naturally inferior as well at that time (by whites, that is...).
And so on, and so on...
I'm sure that a number of things you and I take for granted will be seen in a different light a hundred years from now.
