My program HARMONY can probably help - and it is currently free. It can import various text formats, such as abc, and convert to 'dots'. It can also convert simple MIDI files. For learning the dots, it can display the note letters beneath each one, and/or display the different notes in different colours - the kid's method where you stick a coloured sticker on each note of a piano keyboard.
