Well yes, none of us would lay out 40 quid on a box set of records if we weren't pretty much into what he's all about. My point is that while a lot of this stuff if fantastic archive material for serious fans, it may come as a surprise/disapointment for those looking for an introduction to Carthy and his work. Having said that there's some fabulous stuff on there too. I think I already mentioned the ANC anthem, but that really is worth 40 quid in itself.

Anyway, MC has been a bigger musical influence on me than just about anybody else ever, and is indirectly reponsible for me being in debt to ken stevens music for the next four years (they had a guitar that sounded almost like his)
