Terry: I agree Gaughan, too, is better live, but I find his recordings stand up slightly better than Carthy's. Both have made some "essential" recordings (and in Gaughan's case it's certainly not just the Trad/Modern material division, his "Different Kind of Love Song" is an album I class as Essential.

Carthy's comment sounds typical of the man.

Les: Good to see the "shared view" on "Midnight". Why is it Kavana isn't more widely appreciated?? (Well, having had an agent who quoted telephone numbers as fees for a while may not have helped!)
