Ira Hayes, a Pima indian, was one of the flag raisers at Iwo Jima. He was immortalized in the song, 'The Ballad of Ira Hayes'. The version I know is the one done by Johnny Cash. It tells of the treatment Ira received because of the prejudice against Native Americans. Well worth a listen. It can be found on the Record Ladys web site.
