bbc, I agree with what you say, and I am not angry or hostile. My concern is as follows: you say On Mudcat, though, I am interested in *what* people say, not how they say it. Me also. The problem is that sometimes whatsomeone says is rendered so difficult to figure out by the way they say it that I wonder if I want to be bothered to spend the time and effort to decode it. If a person is challenged in some way, that's one thing. But if one really wishes to be understood, I think they should at least make minimal effort to be understandable. Seems simple enough to me."Style" is fine. But when style interferes with comprehensibility, it defeats the purpose.
