Well, been there, done that, got the yellow plastic poncho...What a fantastic time we had. I saw loads of bands I didn't know - most were good. Some were brilliant. Saw all I intended to see except Divine Comedy. Proclaimers were brilliant. David Gray was surprisingly good live - I wasn't sure he would be but he is amazing. Placebo (my daughters favourite band) were outstandingly good live. Even had me boppin' in the mud (of which there was plenty...)
Only draw back was that Amy (Twin daughter #1) managed to get herself sqaushed in the 'Mosh' area - Crowd surfed to the med area and was back in 10 mins even nearer the front so no lasting harm. Why do that though? Why go to listen to music and then spend the time bouncing into other people and throwing bottles. Beyond me but then again I am over 40 (and the rest...) Perhaps we should try it at folk festivals? If it draws 10's of thousands why not?
Got to meet fellow mudcater, John (Dita), and saw his band 'Govan Spoonful'. I wasn't sure how a ceilidh tent at a rock concert would work - but you had to see it to believe it. So many young people enjoying the brilliant music of John and the band. Just proved how in Scotland the tradition is a living vibrant thing and accepted even at a this venue - A lesson we could well learn south of the border! And John, your rendition of 'Walk of Life' is second to none:-)
Amy managed to wangle a pass for the hospitality area and a guest ticket. Elaine (Mrs Gnome) and Catherine (Twin daughter #2) managed to spend most of my money in Edinburgh. So a good time was had by all.
V2001 at Stoke next... Anyone there???
Cheers
