I think the designation OBIT doesn't need to be qualified for people who are or are not connected to music, the fact that a death is worthy note is enough--I didn't think it was necessary for there to be permathread, just for it to hang around for a week or even a month (I notice that the New York Times Website now includes all the recent obits, as well as the new ones each day)--
