Thread Name: songs about Respect
Subject: RE: songs about Respect
"Will You Love Me Tomorrow" was both a Carol King song and a Shirelles song. Carol King wrote it in the early 1960's when she and Gerry Goffin were writing so many hit songs in the legendary Brill Building. It was given to the Shirelles, who recorded it and got it on the charts. Later (circa 1971, I think), Carol started recording and performing her own songs, and she decided to include her own version of this song on Tapestry, which was one of the landmark albums of the day -- it seemed like everyone in the world had a copy of that record.

There was a song from the early 1970's called "Respect Yourself". Don't remember much about it, it was sung by a woman, and sounded like it was from the Philadelphia soul genre. Anybody remember more than I do about this one?
