When I was working at the wilderness lodge, one of my jobs was to go around in the complex with a shovel and dispose of the dried up bear turds. As long as they were whole and circular I left them for the titillation of the tourists.

The color and content of the scat changed with the vegetation and the type of berry the bears were eating as the season progressed.
