Hello Mrrzy, Having had to cross the border from Canada into USA and Mexico several times I can tell you that I've been asked for a letter from my X everytime to say that he has given his permission. I fortunately have such a letter from my daughter's dad to say that everything is A-ok. It was a very informal letter, not notorized or anything like that .. and it did the trick.
