Like many other artists Christy seems to have made "fence Post" albums along his career. For me the fence post albums were The Time Has Come, Ordinary Man, The Voyage, Smoke and Strong Whiskey and King Puck. The others I feel may not have been quite as strong but I've found individual gems on them never-the-less. I must admit that Traveller took a few listens. I think a long with other people that I wanted Christy to be Christy. Just up there with his guitar. So Traveller was quite a shock. I have to say that now I rate it up there with some of his best. I think, to be fare you really have to listen to it more than once. The driving rythmns in The Rocky Road and The well Below the Valley, I think work really well for those songs. Lovely Young One is a beautifully haunting song about a teenage suicide, which uses programmed sounds to add to the atmosphere. I really think that this album is Christy's most misunderstood to date and I personally don't think it should be resigned to the scrap heap without listening to it a few times anyway. Den
