Thread Name: Anyone remember Duncan Browne?
Subject: Anyone remember Duncan Browne?
I heard 'Journey', by Duncan Browne, played twice, recently on BBC Radio 2, and thought I'd see if anyone in our community remembers him.

He's at http://www.insyncnet.com/duncan/

I was talking to my brother, Free Reed, about Duncan today. He, and my other brother, Martin, shared a flat with Duncan in London, in the late 60's, and into the early 70's, when Duncan's career was in the making. I'll see if I can get Free Reed to chuck a few stories in.

I'm afraid it's all a bit tragic after the success of 'Journey' in the UK charts, in 1973, as Martin (who Duncan had written several songs for/about) was killed in a car accident in March 1974, and this deeply affected Duncan. The last time I met Duncan was at Martin's funeral. He went on to some notable successes, having David Bowie record his 'Criminal World' on 'Let's Dance', but as his biography confirms, Duncan died of cancer in 1993, aged 46.

Although this particular story is sad, the man wrote some great songs. Whilst I reckon 'Journey' is a super guitar riff, my childhood favourite was On The Bombsite (on Immediate Records).

Anyone else know of him, or like his stuff?
