CamiSue, I went to resurrect this thread and realised I never answered you! That could partly be because I don't know! We never, ever, did that with our old cowboy boots. Now, I am thinking if we had, Bill Sables may have helped himself to a few pair.**BG** And, no rot isn't a problem in the too-dry West, but getting too dry and falling apart is!

Anyway, I brought this thread up to say, today I have done it! I took all of my very odl Birks out of the closet, where they've been in a bag, and I put them in a give-away bag to go to one of the charity shops here in town. They recylce stuff that isn't saleable and who knows, maybe one of them will want to get new footbeds, etc.

I know it's kind of a chicken way out, but I still couldn't just throw them out!
