Bob P,

John McDermott was not one of the Three Irish Tenors — he just stood in with them during one of their performances.

For those of you who don't know him, JMcD is a Toronto boy who sorta sprang onto the Canadian scene a few years ago. He had never sung except for family gatherings, in church and the usual amateur venues until he went into a recording studio to make a tape of old songs for his father — who was reputed to have a great voice himself.

Included in the mix were several of Eric B's songs (albiet with altered titles and mangled lyrics), Christmas In The Trenches and other tearjerkers. Not sure how it all shook out, but somebody got his hands on the tape, thought John had potential and got it produced commercially. He's been touring ever since and apparently growing in popularity all over North America.

BTW — I think he's better than any of the TITs, maybe not technically, but certainly for having a more natural delivery.

cheers,

david
