Thanks Ian. I suspect the discouragement of harmony is in part a by-product of fleadh ceoil(music competitions) where individual performances are promoted.

I don't know enough about sean-nós to say absolutley there is or is no harmony, but I tend to agree with you that the evidence has been tainted.
