Subject: RE: Is this a French-Canadian Folk song?
Rosie, I finally got this translation from a friend of mine who is french-canadian. She appologizes for the delay. Hope it is of some use to you still

paul

Here it goes:

The bells of the hamlet Sing in the countryside The sound of the pipe (shepherd's wind instrument, unsure of correct english word) Wakes up the mountains

Refrain: We hear, We hear The shepherds, The Shepherds Singing in the prairies Those light refrains that charm their girlfriends... Tra la la...etc

2) It is time to go home And the young shepherdess Seing the end of the day Returns to her cottage

3) When in the rock (mountains) The storm strikes Around the old homestead We sing joyously

So there it is, it is an old french canadian song that takes me back to my childhood.. I could sing it for you but of course I'd have to be in the shower...
