Kurt Weill certainly teamed with some remarkable lyricists. He is best-known for his collaborations with Bertolt Brecht, who was just about the only writer East Germany could point to with pride. There were others, though: Maxwell Anderson (September Song), Ira Gershwin (Saga of Jenny), Ogden Nash (Speak Low), and also Langston Hughes and Alan Jay Lerner.
Somehow, I can't picture Ogden Nash ("A Peculiar Bird Is the Pelican") as the man who penned the haunting lyrics of "Speak Low."
