Thread Name: Lyr Req: Fare Thee Well? / Farewell (Bob Dylan)
Subject: Lyr Add: FARE THEE WELL (from Judy Collins)
I only know the verses that Judy Collins sang, which are in The Judy Collins Songbook, which of course you all have. All my music books are packed away from my recent move. As best I can recall, they are:

Oh fare thee well, my darlin' true
I'm leavin' the first hour of the morn
I'm bound off for the bay of Mexico
Or maybe the coast of Californ'

So fare thee well my own true love
We'll meet another day, another time
It's not the leavin' that's grievin' me
But my true love who's bound to stay behind

I'll tell you of the laughter and the troubles
Be they somebody else's or my own
With my hands in my pockets and my coat collar high
I'll travel unnoticed and unknown

[CHORUS]

I can't remember the first line of this verse
The rain is turnin' into hail
I might strike it lucky on a highway goin' west
But I'm travelin' a lonesome trail

I've heard tell of a town where I might as well be bound
Down around the Mexican plain
They say that the people all are friendly there
All they ask of you is your name

[CHORUS]

Hope that helps.

Aloha,
Mark
