Thread Name: Lyr Req: Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around
Subject: ADD: Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around
I might have known, when I went looking for this at Mudcat, that Jeri had thought Of it once as well.

It's sure on MY mind today. *G*

I remember it being sung at a co-counseling workshop, I think a women's empowerment one. Years ago. I think I had first heard it on a Joan Baez recording-- gosh maybe I TAUGHT it at the workshop instead of learning it! Damn CRS!

Anyway it's one of those that engenders floating verses, and that would be one reason you would not find it in a collection. It's probably a spiritual.

Here is what I recall of it, and my floating verses du jour. (I think they will make a lot of sense, to people who actually KNOW me.)

AIN'T GONNA LET NOBODY TURN ME AROUND

Ain't gonna let nobody
Turn me around, turn me around, turn me around!
Ain't gonna let nobody turn me around!
Keep on a-walkin', keep on a-talkin',
Gonna build a brand-new world.

SH

Now for floaters, you can vary it one way by changing just the first line:

Ain't gona let no politicians...

Ain't gonna let no sillyass flamers...

Ain't gonna let no old bad memories....

Ain't gonna let no insecurities...

Ain't gonna let no tired body go and...

Ain't gonna let no danged CRS...

And then you can also vary it by changing the fourth and/or fifth lines:

Keep on a-thinkin', keep on a-singin',
Gonna write a brand-new song....

Well. What I had been thinking was, that since I learned it so long ago, it seems to have reflected and possibly strengthened my persistence a bit. *G* This also will make a lot of sense, to people who actually KNOW me.
