Nick, while I can't comment on the history of the tomohawk, the history of firearms has not been driven by subsistence, its been war that has given guns the impetus to evolve from matchlock to wheel lock to flintlock, then as soon as production methods caught up mass produced rifled weapons of war followed, don't let romantic Davey Crocket stuff obscure the reallity.Having said that I would have liked to have fired a flintlock, there is something wonderfully archaic about the idea of the flash in the primming pan the slight pause then bang, and the large cloud of smoke. As long as the gun isn't pointed at anyone it sounds like a great pastime, I don't see many rampages undertaken with muzzle loading flintlocks.
Kim, I hope you can get up to the three per minute.
