Well, I guess it depends on where you are. If you're trying to lay in a food stash before winter, it's a subsistence tool. If your fort's under siege, it's a weapon of war.It's two-two-TWO guns in one! And Crockett had to use em both.
I seen a matchlock demonstration when we were at Jamestown. The guy could load and fire in 30 seconds. Mister thinks he is going to build himself a matchlock, but I ain't too keen on the idea. It's just not as pretty of a gun.
If your flintlock is really well-made (and clean!), there is virtually no pause a-tall between the spark and the CRACK.
