We look forward to the, Wolfgang. And, for what it's worth, those in the left in the UK also have problems with the concept of "national", for all sorts of reasons - but largely because the langauge and symbols of nationhood have been usurped by those of the right (current government?) and far-right (Tory party and beyond, though there are times when it seems hard to get to the right of the Tory party).
Also, of course, Northern Ireland raises all sorts of unpleasant questions of Nationhood (and both the IRA and the Ulster political parties seem pretty far right to me).
