€ Debra Cowan to Appear in Brooklyn, NY, on Friday, September 14, 2001, at 8 PM.

€ Singer at Polytechnic in First NY Pinewoods Folk Off-Broadway Concert of the Season.

Massachusetts-based folksinger Debra Cowan will kick off the new fall season of New York Pinewoods Club's Folk Off-Broadway concert series with an appearance at Wunsch Hall, Polytechnic University in Brooklyn on Friday evening, September 14, 2001. The show starts at 8:00 PM sharp. General admission is $10. NY Pinewoods members pay only $9, and Polytechnic students will be admitted free.

Produced in cooperation with Polytechnic University, the Folk-Off Broadway series is part of a larger Music at Metrotech program.

With her own blend of traditional and contemporary songs, Debra Cowan engages her audiences and invites them to sing along. She also shares the history of her traditional material, which is an integral part of the music. She is not only a technically fine singer, but also a great interpreter of songs from many traditions. Expect her to offer a wide variety of music including sea chanteys, ballads, work songs, union songs, songs from a woman's point of view, and humorous songs. Debra Cowan's two most recent albums are "The Long Grey Line" and "The Songs and Ballads of Hattie Mae Tyler Cargill."

Wunsch Hall, the Polytechnic University student center, is located in Metrotech Center in downtown Brooklyn, easily accessible by public transportation and close to the Marriott Hotel. Ample free on-street parking is available after 7:00 PM.
