I once heard a story song about a particular piece of scrimshaw, which the singer carried with him, but I'm blowed if I can remember either the song, the singer or the story. The scrimshaw was of a whaling ship though, and it was ghostly - I think the scrimshaw carver was supposed to have died on the ship, before finishing the work, but it was all complete before the ship docked again.....
