Thread Name: David Francey and Don Bray: Far End of Summer CD
Subject: David Francey and Don Bray
Fascinating as obituaries can be I tend to be more interested in the living.

For the last two days I have been listening to the latest CD, called Far End of Summer by David Francey. It has marvelous songs on it. He writes well and its nearly impossible to listen to some of his songs without finding yourself humming them for days afterwards. You needn't take my word for it though he has a website here with some realaudio so you can hear what he sounds like. For Toronto Mudcatters he's going to be at the Tranzac on September 30. If there's any way that I can arrange it I'm going to be there.

Apparently while David Francey was recording his CD he ran into another musician called Don Bray. I've known Don Bray for a few years and he's shown up at the Orillia Song Circle a few times. I have heard good reviews of his latest CD: Waiting to Arrive but haven't got my hands on a copy of it yet. His CD release is at Hugh's Room in Toronto on September 12. His website is here and again you should be able to find some samples of his sound.

For anybody interested in hearing some excellent new songwriters and, in Don's case, some marvellous guitar work, you should try listening to these guys.

Nobody has paid me to write this by the way, but when I came home from a David Francey concert last spring I nearly wrote up a review for the Mudcat that night but decided not to turn on the computer instead. Sleepyhead!
