I once heard a (reasonably well known - won't divulge names) group sing in performance: "I've never sailed the Amazon, nor yet been to Brazil, but down in the Magdelenas, they can go there whenever they will." (Rather than "...the 'Dawn' and the 'Magdelena'...")
