"Jumpers for goalposts" reminds me of something.
A few years ago I remember seeing a collection of German students in the UK, deciding to have a game of football.
I was amazed when they started to pace out the pitch, halfway lines and the goals. They then picked out two teams of eleven players only and appointed a ref and linespersons. They did use jumpers for goal post however.
Informal games I was used to, only used jumpers for goal posts, or "jackets doon" as they say in Scotland. That however, was the extent of the organisation required.
