I'VE GOT THE MOURNING BLUES
(Uncle Dave Macon)

   C    /  G         C    /  G
Been in business, been in love,
C / G D / G
Used to fly high like a turtle dove.
C / G C / G
Had the Blues many a time;
C / G D / G
Just a girl on a poor boy's mind

G
CHO: I got the Mourning Blues, oh so bad!
C / G D / G
Honey, come and kiss me; they're the worst I ever had.

C / G C / G
Nickel's worth of grease, and a dime's worth of lard;
C / G D / G
I would buy more but the times are hard.
C / G C / G
Ain't no need for me to hard,
C / G D / G
I can live off the chickens in my neighbor's yard.

Chorus:

C / G C / G
I woke up this morning with a pain in my head,
C / G D / G
So I crawled right back in bed.
C / G C / G
Alone in the morning makes you feel so bad.
C / G D / G
These lonesome blues make you feel so sad.
