Gareth, sorry to be statistically pedantic, but since the arithmetic mean is the measure used to calculate average IQ, then it is not true that there are as many Americans below average intelligence as above.

Actually, there are many more below average than above average. If the median IQ were used as the average, then your statement would be correct.
